Entering into summer, the weather gradually shows variable and even extreme trends - sometimes the sun is hot, sometimes rainstorms occur frequently, which brings a lot of challenges to the daily use and maintenance of new energy heavy-duty trucks. In order to ensure that the vehicle remains efficient, safe and stable operation in the summer, we have organized the following summer use precautions for the reference of the majority of users.
Regularly check the charging interface to ensure that it is clean and dry
The charging interface is a key node of the vehicle's energy supply. Dust and rain increase in summer, if the interface sealing is not in place, it is very easy to cause internal moisture, short circuit, affecting the charging efficiency, and even jeopardize the safety of the battery. Please make sure to do the following:
Check whether the charging interface is clean and free of debris before and after each use; ensure that the dustproof and waterproof cover is intact and closed; when charging in outdoor or open-air places, build a rain shelter or use a rain cover to avoid the interface from being damp; if you find liquids or foreign objects inside the interface, clean it up in time and dry it thoroughly before using it again.
Avoid charging in high-temperature environment
High-temperature environment is a severe test for both power battery and charging equipment. The maximum permissible charging temperature of the battery system design is generally 65 ℃, when the external temperature is too high or the vehicle has not been reduced after continuous operation of the battery temperature, should not be charged immediately.
Avoid charging directly in the midday and sunny environment; if the battery system temperature is found to be too high, please leave it to cool down first, and then operate it after the temperature has dropped back; if there is any indication of failure of the cooling system (e.g., air-cooled, water-cooled) carried by the vehicle, it should contact the XCMG authorized service station for overhauling; charging continuously in a high temperature state not only exacerbates the decay of the battery's performance, but also may cause damage to the charger body.
Avoid parking the vehicle for a long time, and maintain a reasonable power interval
Parking the vehicle for a long time without using it, especially in high temperature and humid environment, will accelerate the aging of the battery, and even lead to potential safety hazards. Please make reasonable arrangements for parking and power management:
The best storage power interval is 50% to 80%, it is recommended to check the power status regularly; if the power is less than 40%, it should be replenished in time to prevent over-discharge; the environment of the vehicle should be cool, ventilated, and dry, avoiding direct sunlight and rain immersion; if the vehicle has not been in use for more than one month, it is necessary to carry out the “Battery Maintenance” program twice before the first use to activate the battery. If the vehicle has not been used for more than 1 month, it is necessary to carry out “Battery Maintenance” program twice before the first use to activate the battery activity and restore performance.
Be cautious about driving in water, and strictly control the driving conditions
Summer rainstorms are frequent, and urban flooding and waterlogged roads occur from time to time. Although the new energy heavy trucks have a certain ability to wade in water, but still need to operate with caution:
The depth of water on the road shall not exceed 500 millimeters; the driving speed should be controlled within 10 kilometers per hour; the continuous wading section should not exceed 500 meters; in case of instrument alarm (e.g., insulation, electronic system), it should be stopped immediately for inspection; after wading for a long period of time, it should be driven away from the water area as soon as possible and contact the service station for testing to avoid corrosion and malfunctioning of the key components, such as motors, batteries and other key components, due to moisture; after wading and driving It is recommended to check the cable connector, electronic control unit, battery shell and other parts.
Avoid frequent rapid acceleration and advocate smooth driving
The power response of new energy vehicles is swift, but frequent rapid acceleration, rapid deceleration or ramp heavy-duty start by slamming on the accelerator pedal will cause instantaneous high-current discharge of the battery and increase the wear and tear:
It is recommended to accelerate in a sequential manner when starting, overtaking or climbing a slope, avoiding strenuous operation; reduce the number of braking and re-acceleration by planning routes and operating smoothly to improve energy efficiency; daily driving should be uniform and smooth, which helps to prolong the service life of the whole vehicle and battery system.
Summer driving is not only about comfort, but also directly related to the performance, safety and cost control of new energy heavy trucks. Through scientific and reasonable operation and maintenance, the stability and economy of the vehicle can be significantly improved. XCMG will continue to provide professional after-sales support and technical guarantee for your every transportation.
